Music on the Streets

Street Music

HEY!—

Buddy can ya spare us a dime For a mime or a rhyme or a tune or a croon, For a solo on oboe or étude for bassoon? We may look haggard and funny, And like we’re beggin’ for money, But!— We got the worn out fed up head achin’ back breakin’ buskin blues. CAN YA HEAR US— Through the roar of subways and yell of the crowd, Jackhammers yackin’ and sirens screamin’ CAN YA HEAR US? We got the worn out fed up head achin’ back breakin’ buskin’ blues. CAN YA HEAR US— Strummin’ guitars, pickin’ sitars Blowin’ tubas, tootin’ flutes Puffin’ bagpipes, hootin’ panpipes, Pluckin’ harps and plinkin’ lutes? You name it we got it— Sax and bass, drums and moogs, Accordions and harmoniums, tambouras and ouds, Brass bands, jazzbands, tom-toms and tam-tams, Kettledrums and kazoos! We do strathspeys and sambas, sonatas and jigs, Play polkas and pibrochs, belt out ballads and riffs And that’s not all... We Eat fire Walk ropes Juggle plums Pull rabbits from silk hats, And tap dance.  But some days we get the worn out, fed, up, head achin’, back breakin’ buskin’ blues. CAN YA HEAR US?! We get the worn out fed up head achin’ back breakin’ buskin’ blues!
